JOHANNESBURG: The Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition (CiZC) welcomes the release from jail of veteran journalist and editor, Bheki Makhubu and human rights lawyer, Thulani Maseko.

Over a year ago, Swaziland jailed the two for contempt of court. Various attempts to secure their release had been frustrated until a Supreme Court order overturned their March 2014 conviction.

Together with a number of voices within and without Swaziland, we have been calling for the two’s release, including also, the release of political activist, Mario Masuku and student leader, Maxwell Dlamini.

The level of international solidarity extended to the people of Swaziland, as they go through a most trying period, particularly encourages us.

On our part, we will continue to stand and work with progressive forces in the Swaziland, sharing experiences as well as amplifying their hopes, dreams and aspirations for a democratic future.
